Ipsy Glam Bag Review- June 2015

I got my first Glam Bag from Ipsy late last month, and I have to admit I was less than thrilled once I opened my bag. You see, I am critical and picky in nature, but since this was my first bag I was going to give it the benefit of the doubt. Though, after seeing what my sister gets from her Birch and Glossy box subscriptions, it made me feel ehhhh to the whole thing, especially since some items were not my color.

J. Cat Beauty Liptitude Hydrating Lip Stain

Okay, I’ll admit here first that I do not usually use lip color, but when I do I usually stick with matte lip stain markers. Since it was a liquid, I was a bit iffy about trying it.
Pros: High pigment color and lasts for awhile
Cons: Not my shade at all! The color I got was too bright a pink for my tan/olive skin tone. Though my sister, who has a lighter tan skin tone, loved the color.

Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish

I was really excited when I saw I got this product, I’ve heard so many good things about it. I’m always looking for a good primer, though this one is good, it isn’t enough for me.
Pros: It has a very silky smooth texture straight out of the tube. It’s airy and goes on smooth and helps my makeup last. Not sticky, greasy or oily feeling at all! Makeup sits perfectly in place, but in the Texas heat with oily skin, will melt away some.
Cons: A little goes a long way, too much and my skin looked shiny on my cheeks! I have enlarged pores, but with the primer my skin felt silky and smooth. Although, the primer alone didn’t hide anything, and my pores still showed thru, my skin looked normal as ever. I think I’ll stick with my Too Faced silicone primer to do the job and hand this one off to my sister. 🙂

Aurora Intensive Eyeliner Pen

First impression: Ohhhhhhhh, a liquid liner! :3 It boasts a long-lasting formula to last up to 24 hrs and won’t smudge.
Pros: Its quite pigmented and glides on smooth at the first use. Lasts a while and doesn’t irritate my eyes. Doesn’t pull my skin and glides on.
Cons: After 3+ uses I noticed it would dry out a bit which was annoying. Not smudge proof, or waterproof as described. It seems like any regular eyeliner with a felt tip, nothing too special.
Score: 3 out of 5

Altchek MD Eye Gel Pads

I had never tried eye patches before, but after reading on the back that it is made in Korea I knew it had to be good. After all, everyone is saying Korea is ahead of the U.S in the beauty/skincare market.
Pros: Goes on smooth and slightly cold. Didn’t irritate my sensitive eye area and my eyes felt well hydrated after each use. Stay on quite well, even with my glasses on! 😀 Plus, it was fun to wear ha!
Cons: Since I only received 2 pads, I didn’t notice any quick or drastic improvements as far as fine lines or puffiness improving.
Score: 3 out of 5

tre’StiQue Mini Shadow Crayon

First impression: Uh oh, eye shadow. I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not a big eyeshadow girl and seeing that it came in a pinkish tan shade, not my color either.
Pros: Extremely sheer, but buildable to a thicker heavier creme to show the full color. Glides on smooth.
Cons: My skin is olive/tan, so to test the color and to even be able to see it, I had to use my sister. On my skin, it looks clear with no color and just has a gold glitter hue and is VERY shiny. On my sister, it shows up as a mid tan that almost blends in with her skin. Overall, did not enjoy it since it didn’t show up on me, and it will be given to my sister because she loves it.
Score: 3 out of 5
